MOVIE SLAYERS IN A THEATER NEAR YOU THIS MONTH

I wish they would stop giving Dane Cook more chances. Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck and now My Best Friend’s Girl comes out this weekend. I am yet to see any of his movies, but I still feel like I can say without hesitation that they are all terrible and if I did see them they would all be top 25 material for my Worst 100 Movies list. Watch five minutes of his standup and you’ll know why I avoid his movies. He isn’t funny. Can you get a job as a fireman if you don’t know how to turn on a hose? How does he keep landing movies? Apparently, he plays a guy who gets hired by nice guys who get dumped to get their girlfriends, to help get their girlfriends back. He does this by dating the girls and being such an ass that the girls go running back to their nice guy ex-boyfriends. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of a worse premise for a movie. I can say that with all honesty. And since when was Dane Cook a stud? Does he really get the ladies smitten? This co-stars Jason Biggs and Kate Hudson. Sorry, Jason Biggs is not going to save this one. Is his resume worse than Dane’s?
Speaking of bad movies, did anyone see Righteous Kill with Pacino and De Niro? I didn’t either. There was a time when a pairing of these actors would mean Oscar certainty. I’m not sure what it means now, I’m sure they both got a pretty big check. De Niro still has his moments but Pacino is slipping in to being a full fledged movie slayer. How many more cop movies are you gonna make Al? Are any of them going to be watchable? By the way, a movie slayer is someone who ruins any movie they are in or only makes horrible movies. People like LL Cool J, Ashton Kutcher and the afore mentioned Dane Cook are movie slayers. This term was coined by my friend Mike.
Another movie slayer who came out with a movie this month is Nicolas Cage. The movie was Bangkok Dangerous. I say was because after two wild weeks and a blistering 12 million dollars, you may now have a hard time finding it in theaters. I had so much hope for Cage after Honeymoon in Vegas and Raising Arizona but somewhere around the time of Face/Off and Con Air he decided that he was only going to make crap. Not only just crap, but as much crap he can churn out as possible. If you look on his page in IMDB he is in the midst of working on 10 movies. There is no end in sight. I guess after he won the Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas in 1995, he figured he didn’t need to bother trying to win any more.
