My Weekend at the Outside Lands Festival

Posted on August 28th, 2008 in show reviews | No Comments »

I will start out by saying that I initially did not want to go to the Outside Lands Festival, at least not for 3 straight days.  I was thinking maybe I’ll go for one day, two tops; but in no way did I want to go for three days.  My girlfriend planned on going to all three days from the beginning and harassed me enough until I caved in and gave her the go ahead to get me a weekend pass.  I wasn’t too fired up to go for a couple of reasons.  First off, I wasn’t huge in to too many of the bands that were performing.  There were plenty I wanted to see and even a few who I am a big fan of but nothing I felt that I couldn’t miss.  The main reason I didn’t want to go was just the simple and plain fact that I know myself pretty well by now and I don’t have the best track record of rocking out for three straight nights, especially without a solid amount of couch time in between.  With all of that said I had a great time and will definitely do it again.  For those of you that couldn’t make it or didn’t have any desire to make it, I thought I would give you a little run down of how the weekend went.  Sort the good, bad, ugly and weird of it.  At least the way I saw it. This write up went a little bit longer than I planned, but I think it’s worth it if you are curious about the show or some of the goofy things that went down. Read the rest of this entry »

Flight Of The Conchords Live: A Review

I just wanted to do a quick review of the Flight of the Conchords show I went to last night.  They played in San Francisco at the Nob Hill Masonic Center.  The venue itself is just ok.  If you are sitting on the side, your view of the stage sort of sucks, but if you are in the center the view is great.  You can only drink in the lobby so if there is no intermission; your buzz is pretty much gone by the middle of the show.  Losing the buzz isn’t really the problem, but it can sometimes leave you a little tired which obviously makes it difficult to keep your energy up.  The last time I was at this venue was for a Van Morrison show.  My girlfriend and I would head down to the lobby after every four or five songs to slam a drink.  This actually worked out fine for me as she is the Morrison fan.  I really only know his hits.  I think though any show I went to at this venue I would get up every so often to go grab a drink.  A little bit of booze always makes a show more fun.  None the less, this says something about the Conchords.  I didn’t once get up for a drink because I was afraid that if I did I would miss something hilarious.  Read the rest of this entry »
