I just wanted to do a quick review of the Flight of the Conchords show I went to last night. They played in San Francisco at the Nob Hill Masonic Center. The venue itself is just ok. If you are sitting on the side, your view of the stage sort of sucks, but if you are in the center the view is great. You can only drink in the lobby so if there is no intermission; your buzz is pretty much gone by the middle of the show. Losing the buzz isn’t really the problem, but it can sometimes leave you a little tired which obviously makes it difficult to keep your energy up. The last time I was at this venue was for a Van Morrison show. My girlfriend and I would head down to the lobby after every four or five songs to slam a drink. This actually worked out fine for me as she is the Morrison fan. I really only know his hits. I think though any show I went to at this venue I would get up every so often to go grab a drink. A little bit of booze always makes a show more fun. None the less, this says something about the Conchords. I didn’t once get up for a drink because I was afraid that if I did I would miss something hilarious. Read the rest of this entry »
Since I am a man of the people, who is here for the people, I would like to do a public service and uncover one of the great lies of our culture. I do this because I feel that it is my duty to keep my people from being mislead and steered down the wrong path. This lie sounds warm and fuzzy and really sweet. It also sounds like the kind of bullshit that people tell their ugly friends so they don’t take a shot of Drano or jump in front of a bus. This is of course is – THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE FOR EVERYONE. Read the rest of this entry »
Whether you love him or hate him (because there really is no in between) you have to admit that Michael Moore is a talented, funny and persuasive filmmaker. In the midst of the 2004 presidential election Moore dropped a bomb on the George W. Bush campaign that would go down as the #1 box office documentary of all time, Fahrenheit 9/11. Unfortunately for us and the entire planet I suppose, Bush still won but this film hurt his campaign about as much as any movie could have this side of a secret sex tape starring Bush, Condoleezza Rice and hell, let’s throw in Cheney for a giggle.
The way Moore put this movie together isn’t new territory for him. There is a lot of himself, funny montages and interviews from people who have been personally affected by the war. It really is an indictment on the entire presidency up to that point. Besides the war in Iraq, Moore dives deep into how Bush stole the election in the first place against Gore. The film really is funny and George W provides a lot of the laughs. In the end though, it serves its purpose. When the closing credits roll, you are really angry at the president and pretty much everyone who works for him. It’s now four years later and we’re still stuck out there fighting with no real light at the end of the tunnel. Moore is a guy you want on your side, that’s why those who are on the other side hate him so dearly. None the less, it’s too bad they didn’t listen to him during the last election.
The first thing I want to say is that Hillary Clinton needs to drop out. Ok, it was fun for a while Senator Clinton, but you’re done. I really can’t see any reason for you to still be running. It’s time for you to inform your supporters that they need to now support Obama. All your negative campaigning and racist remarks are doing is hurting your party. Do you even care? I am starting to think that all you really care about is the “Clinton” party and you could care less for this country. If you did care you would be campaigning for Obama starting last week after you got your ass kicked in North Carolina. But you don’t and you’re not. And for the love of God please don’t bring up West Virginia as any kind of victory. It’s sort of like winning Hazzard County and unfortunately for you, Boss Hog is not a super delegate. By the way, Obama picked up more super delegates yesterday than you picked up pledged delegates in West Virginia. Thanks for the memories Hillary, now do your party and supporters a favor and hit the road.

As I have previously mentioned I was at a wedding a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful event for one of my best friends and I had a wonderful time. I have 3 more weddings (that I know of) coming up before the end of the year that I will be attending and had one that I had to miss about a 2 months due to timing and financial issues. I am not writing a post on my popularity. That would be arrogant and it’s already well documented. I am also not writing about weddings in general. I am actually writing about giving wedding gifts and my apparent ineptitude at doing so. It’s just always been something that I have scrubbed out on for one reason or another. It may have been that I was broke at the time or maybe just forgot; regardless of what it was its kind of sad and inexcusable.
There are sort of a rules and regulations of giving wedding gifts and I have broken them all. It’s one of those common courtesy things they write about in those how to have good manners books. I’ll run down brief history of my ignorance and laziness. Read the rest of this entry »
